The Gym Floor Reality
I'm Omaun. I've been in the fitness game for over 20 years, and as General Manager at 24-Hour Fitness, I've seen it all. When you're on the floor that long, you know exactly what bodybuilding does to the human body.
Bodybuilders tear the body down to build it back up. Heavy lifting causes micro-tears in muscle fibers, leading to Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage and Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness: stiffness, swelling, strength loss that can derail a training split. Over the years, that repetitive stress wears down joints, cartilage, and connective tissue. My guys battle this constantly.
When soreness hits, the usual playbook is thin: stretch, get a massage, take a hot shower, load up on protein, or just wait it out. None of it solves the problem in a controlled, reliable way.
That's where my friend Dr. Harold Han comes in. I met Harold right here in the gym, talking about the same battle with soreness and joint wear. He told me there was a better way to recover, using non-intoxicating cannabis-based compounds, and introduced me to phytoRX: water-compatible CBD and CBG you can just drink.

I was skeptical. I get pitched a new product every month. But after trying it myself, I noticed real improvements in relaxation and sleep quality, enough that I asked Harold to break down the actual science behind it.
The Scientist Who Works Out
I'm Harold, the chemist behind phytoRX, and I've trained in the gym for nearly 20 years. I'm not a professional athlete, but I know the routine, the discipline, and the feedback the body gives. When I was younger, I chased soreness; it felt like proof of hard work. As I've gotten older, that same soreness turned into something more limiting: a deep, lingering inflammatory fatigue that disrupts recovery and consistency.
PhytoRX was built to reduce overall inflammation. Once athletes in the gym started using it, they discovered the real benefit was post-workout recovery. Taking 1–2 doses after an intense session, I get reduced muscle tension, better relaxation, deeper sleep, and faster recovery.
So what are CBD and CBG? They're non-intoxicating cannabinoids from the cannabis plant, meaning no “high” like THC. They work through the body's endocannabinoid system, the regulatory network that helps balance inflammation, pain, mood, and recovery (Lu, 2015). CBD acts on receptors like CB2 and TRPV1 to reduce inflammation and pain signaling while helping regulate cortisol and stress (Peng et al., 2022). CBG, often called the “mother cannabinoid,” adds anti-inflammatory support, muscle relaxation, and neuroprotection (Li et al., 2024). Together, they help ease post-exercise inflammation, reduce soreness, and support recovery without impairing performance.
The Evidence
Study 1: Muscle Damage & Squat Recovery (Isenmann et al., 2021)
16 trained strength athletes took 60 mg of water-soluble CBD right after resistance training. Result: lower blood markers of muscle damage, and better preservation of 1-rep-max squat strength 72 hours later. For you: a fast-absorbing CBD drink may protect your muscles on a heavy leg day and speed up strength recovery.
Study 2: DOMS Recovery with a CBD & CBG Beverage (Peters et al., 2023)
40 exercise-trained individuals drank a beverage with 35 mg CBD and 50 mg CBG, twice daily for 3.5 days. Result: significantly less soreness interfering with daily activity at 48 hours versus placebo. For you: CBD and CBG together restore functional mobility, so you move normally with less pain outside the gym.
Study 3: Chronic Joint Pain in Elite Athletes (Hall et al., 2023)
20 former pro athletes used 20 mg/day of topical CBD for 6 weeks. Result: significant drops in self-reported pain and pain-related disability, with only minor, short-lived side effects. For you: applied directly to knees, elbows, or lower back, this targets the joint wear that builds up over years of heavy lifting.
Study 4: Real-World Survey on Cannabis and Exercise Recovery (Pinzone et al., 2023)
111 regular cannabis users who exercise, 85% of them resistance trainers. Result: 93% said CBD actively helped their recovery. For you: this is real gym-floor feedback, not a lab, and it lines up with what bodybuilders are already reporting about adding cannabinoids to their stack alongside protein, creatine and BCAAs.
Study 5: Sleep Quality & Anxiety (Shannon et al., 2019)
72 adults took 25–175 mg of CBD daily for a month. Result: sleep scores improved in 66.7%, and anxiety dropped in 79.2%. For you: heavy training and stimulant pre-workouts spike cortisol and leave your nervous system wired. Better sleep means better repair and readiness for the next session. Note: this study wasn't athlete-specific, so more research in athletic populations is still needed.
The Takeaway
Across these studies, a consistent pattern shows up: CBD and CBG support recovery on multiple fronts, with less muscle damage, less soreness, better joint comfort, and better sleep. The research is encouraging but still early. Sample sizes are small, and studies haven't been replicated at scale, so think of these compounds as a strong addition to your recovery strategy, not a replacement for nutrition, hydration, sleep, and smart programming.
On dosing: the studies referenced ranged from 10 mg topical to 175 mg oral per day. Start low and see how your body responds. CBD and CBG are generally well-tolerated but can interact with certain medications, so check with a healthcare provider if you're on prescriptions. If you're subject to drug testing, use only products that are third-party tested and certified THC-free.
Why Delivery Format Matters
Omaun again. Seeing Harold break down the science just confirmed what I already felt in my body. But from the gym floor, the real advantage of phytoRX is how easy it is to use.
Bodybuilders already live with hydration, water, pre-workout, protein shakes all day. Water-compatible CBD and CBG just fit into what we're already doing.

It's also THC-free, so there's no intoxication. For lifters who need to stay sharp, stay compliant at work, or compete in tested sports, that matters. A recovery tool that works without impairing performance is one you can actually use every day.
And recovery isn't just about feeling less sore; it's about being ready to perform again. Better recovery means you can train with more frequency and intensity without the setbacks that come from accumulated fatigue. In this game, consistency is everything. That's a big deal.
Disclaimer: Individual responses to CBD and CBG can vary based on body weight, training volume, sleep habits, nutrition, and overall health status. The studies referenced involved specific populations, doses and formulations; results in other individuals may differ. CBD and CBG are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or medical condition. Athletes subject to drug testing should verify that any product they use is third-party tested and certified THC-free. If you are taking prescription medications or have an underlying health condition, consult a qualified healthcare provider before adding cannabinoids to your routine.
